Updates:
May 7th: Intent to sell notice received by community.
May 18th: General Meeting: Informed community of next steps and asked for volunteers to join core volunteer group.
May 21st: General Meeting: Dan Hunt, from Animasview Mobile Home Park, spoke and talked about resources and the process.
May 27th: Core Volunteer Meeting: The core volunteers divided up tasks to obtain a tax ID number, registering as a non profit entity, contacted Thistle, set up banking, and a web domain.
June 5th: Core Volunteers Meeting: Core group wrote a letter to coummunity explaining completed steps and next steps in the process since 80% signatures were collected from the community.
June 12th: Core Volunteer Meeting: Core group discussed possible options for gap funding.
June 14th: General Meeting: The core volunteer group Informed the community about the upcoming meeting with Thistle, and collected co-op operation fee of 25.00. The community discussed dates and times that work for majority of the community to meet with Thistle via Zoom. The core volunteer group discussed next steps around electing a board once the community meets with Thistle.
June 26th: Core group members completed a letter of intent to apply for grants and low interest rate loans through DOLA. The July 1st deadline was met and an application for the August 15th deadline is in process.
July 14th: Core group met with DOLA and we set up an account with DOLA. We are applying for more low interest loan and grant opportunities for the second round deadline. A letter of intent and park demographics are being submitted by August 15th for grants and loans that will be available in October 2025.
July 20th: An email went out to residents about the upcoming Thistle meeting on August 5th at 5:00 P.M.
July 24th: Core group members walked around with flyers and information to notify community members about the up coming Thistle meeting on August 5th at The Grange at 5:00. We must have 80% or more of the whole park's attendance or we will not become a ROC. We could see lot rent prices rise, lose autonomy, or be bought out by a developer. Pizza and drinks will be provided. Please mark your calendars to attend this important meeting.
August 5th: 5:00 at Animas Valley Grange (7271 Co Rd 203, Durango, CO 81301) to meet with Thistle to vote on a board and move forward with the process of becoming a resident owned community. 80% or more of the community must attend!
